March 20, 2022

The WNYK March Alumnus of the Month spotlight is on Rev. Gil Monrose, a 2004 Nyack College graduate. He is the lead pastor of Mt. Zion Church of God 7th Day and founding president of two Brooklyn-based nonprofit organizations, the 67th Precinct Clergy Council Inc. (“The God Squad”) and the Brooklyn Center for Quality Life.

A graduate of both the New York Police Department Citizen Academy and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Citizen Academy, he has traveled globally as a guest speaker to encourage and empower communities.

His passion for community is evidenced in his multiple board assignments in Kings County, New York as an advocate for the borough of Brooklyn in the areas of housing, healthcare, education, and behavioral health issues. He also lends his expertise to organizations such as the New York City chapter of Habitat for Humanity and the Center for the Study of Spirituality & Professionalism at the University of the Virgin Islands.
