We’re Still Celebrating! | The Extraordinary Nyack/ATS Faculty and Staff
May 16, 2022
You needn’t look any further than at the faculty and staff of Nyack College and Alliance Theological Seminary to see the personification of servant leadership.
It’s not how much or how often these extraordinary men and women roll up their sleeves or how many things they’ve checked off a “to do” list. It’s the condition and motivation of their hearts behind their uncommon dedication to make things better than they found them.
At the annual Nyack/ATS year-end luncheon, pillars of the campus community were honored.
Each year one faculty member and one staff member is presented with the “Rick Santiago Commitment to Mission Award,” renamed in 2017 to honor the exemplary leadership of the late Rick Santiago, who served as director of database operations. The award encourages development and achievement in specific areas of strategic importance to Nyack College; provides an incentive for continued excellence through specific accomplishments that align with the institution’s core values and mission; and celebrates individual accomplishments that both reflect and contribute to Nyack’s core values.
The 2022 Rick Santiago Commitment to Mission Award recipients are individuals who embrace their calling to Nyack and go the extra mile for any task at hand. The commitment of two standout employees was celebrated.
Faculty recipient: Prof. Kristen Luba, Director of Assessment and Accreditation Liaison Officer, is recognized for Nyack’s core value of academic excellence. A 22-year veteran employee, who earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees at Nyack, Kristen has served the institution with unwavering commitment. Praise for her work in curricula review, design assessments and analysis of data to improve programming and student outcomes is unanimous. Numerous successful accreditation visits have been largely attributable to her analytical skills, competencies, and diligent work.
Staff/administrator recipient: Dr. David Jennings, Director of Admissions, epitomizes being globally engaged, intentionally diverse and socially relevant, core values he has lived since his first Nyack role as Purchasing/Project Coordinator. For more than 25 years, his philanthropic and compassionate spirit has invested generously in the work of Nyack alumni in the Philippines. At New Life Fellowship in Queens, he is the director of New Life Community Health Center whose mission is to serve poor and immigrant populations. The number of hats he has worn over the years at Nyack in Advancement, Finance, Operations and Enrollment—notably as interim President—are remarkable milestones. His loyalty and commitment to Nyack College is simply unmatched.
