Season 5 | Dr. Steven Notley’s Collaborative El-Araj Dig Still a Headliner

Nyack College Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins Dr. R. Steven Notley and his colleague, Dr. Mordechai Aviam of Kinneret Academic College in Israel are mentioned in a new Haaretz article, “‘Church of the Apostles’ in Bethsaida Mysteriously Buried, Archaeologists Discover.”

The Israeli newspaper reported today on this new development. This year is the fifth season of the ongoing archaeological excavations known as the El-Araj Excavation Project (EAEP), for which Dr. Notley has served as academic director. This collaborative work with Kinneret College that unearthed evidence of “the Church of the Apostles” stirred a media blitz that circled the globe. Coverage was carried by National Geographic, USA Today, Newsweek, Times of Israel, Jerusalem Post, “The Today Show,” Fox News.com and the History News Network.
