School of Social Work Partners with New York State Office of Mental Health

November 15, 2022

Alliance University School of Social Work became an official partner with New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), School of Social Work Project for Evidence-Based Practice in Mental Health.

This is a partnership between OMH and Schools and Departments of Social Work in New York State. The primary goal of the Project is to prepare masters-level social work (MSW) students entering a changing mental health service system. Selected students will take a non-semester course in Evidence-Based Practice in Mental Health, participate in four colloquia, and complete their internship in an approved evidence-based practice field placement. They receive training and education in recovery-oriented, evidence-based practices for adults diagnosed with Serious Mental Illness (SMI). The training and education will be offered to second-year MSW students for clinical practice. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate and a small financial award at the end of the MSW program.

We are delighted to share that four of our Masters of Social Work Spring 2023 graduating students will receive a certificate from the OMH project and a small financial award. The students are Lillian Gomez, Andrelie Nelson, Jenny Merty, and Darcia Prince.
