July 22, 2022
What a year for Saskia Lehninger! She is one of 577 National Collegiate Athletic Association athletes, one of 127 Division II players, and the only graduating female athlete nominated by Nyack College for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
The 2022 Nyack valedictorian from Weisendorf, Germany, distinguished herself during her college career by being a member of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society, the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society, the CACC All-Academic Team and leading as team captain for Nyack Women’s Soccer. Community service is a passion that she has fulfilled both in the U.S. and at home in Germany, exemplifying her servant leadership.
The Woman of the Year Selection Committee will choose 10 student-athletes from all three NCAA divisions. Of the top 30, nine finalists will be named. The winner will be announced at the NCAA convention in January 2023.
Congratulations, Saskia, on your stellar academic and athletic achievements! We wish you all the best in this competition. In our eyes, you’re already a winner!
