
Remembering Rev. Dr. Robert A. Thompson (1970-2021)

Rev. Dr. Robert A. Thompson, School of Business and Leadership (SBL) adjunct professor and an alumnus of Nyack College and Alliance Theological Seminary (ATS), passed away on July 4, 2021. His life will be celebrated by family and friends on Saturday, July 17, 2021. A viewing from 10 AM – 12 noon will be followed by a homegoing service at Harlem’s historic Canaan Baptist Church of Christ located at 132 West 116th Street, New York, NY where he was on the pastoral staff. The Brooklyn native comes a long line of church leaders including pastors, deacons and intercessors.
Exemplifying the Nyack/ATS core value and his personal high regard for academic excellence, Rev. Dr. Thompson earned an M.Div. at ATS and both an MBA and a BA in Organizational Leadership at the Nyack School of Business and Leadership. He earned his first doctorate at Drew University and was pursuing a second doctorate online with Columbia International University. As a Nyack College adjunct, he taught economics and marketing management, a course he most recently taught this past spring.
Rev. Dr. Thompson is survived by his beloved wife, Katia M. Pierre-Thompson, an alumna of the School of Business and Leadership, who earned her Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. Also mourning his untimely passing are three daughters he adored: Niara-Malaika, Akilah Hadiyah Immacula and Shakira Kamillah. Also cherishing memories are his parents, Howard and Dorothy Meyers-Thompson, a brother David and a sister Pamela. He was predeceased by an older brother Jonathan and his paternal grandparents Ned and Janie Thompson.
