Praying for Our Haitian Brothers and Sisters
August 14, 2021
The campus community of Nyack College, Seminary and Graduate Schools stands in prayer with members of the student body, faculty and staff who have family impacted by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti today. The recently reported death toll of more than 300 and hundreds more injured is another horrific blow to this country. This natural disaster comes 11 years after the tragic 2010 earthquake that caused hundreds of thousands of death.
In response to the 2010 earthquake, Nyack College established a $1 million Haitian Scholarship Fund for students displaced by the earthquake in Haiti, who would be educated and empowered to return to their homeland to be a part of rebuilding the nation.
Our prayers for protection and deliverance are lifted for the families of the victims as well as those still trying to communicate with their loved ones.
May God’s mercy, grace and peace abound. May the words of Psalm 27:5 cover those in harm’s way.
For he will hide me in his shelter
in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
he will lift me high upon a rock.
