Oct 18 & 20 | Chapel Services at Alliance University

October 17, 2022

For where two or three are gathered together in My name,
there am I in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:20)

Alliance University chapel services will be held this week on Tuesday and Thursday in the Lower Level Auditorium on campus at 2 Washington Street in Manhattan near Battery Park. Service is also streamed at Alliance University Chapels on the YouTube channel.

Brigi Cook ILWATuesday, October 18 @ 12 noon (EDT)
Chapel speaker: Bridgie Cook, with her husband, Kris, serves The Christian and Missionary Alliance as international workers in Bordeaux, FR. They are alumni of Alliance University. Bridgie earned an undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary studies and Kris earned an M.Div. at Alliance Theological Seminary.

In France, their church plant, Mosaïque (which means “broken, loved, and better together”) gathered in person. She explains, “When we say ‘broken, loved, and better together,’ we encourage people in this idea that to be a part of the church means doing life together. It means going beyond a Sunday gathering; by sharing meals throughout the week, by seeing the needs of those in the neighborhood and serving, and by choosing to live out our brokenness in vulnerability with one another. Our Sunday gatherings involved prayer, a multi-generational reading of the Bible, discussion, and worship. We hosted Tuesday night meals, and game nights. When we celebrated Mosaïque’s one-year anniversary, we hosted a BBQ with some of the homeless of the neighborhood.  We encouraged those of our community to show up to our home in sweatpants and tears, if that’s where they found themselves. French culture would tell them to put on a mask and hide their brokenness.”

The Cooks are currently on home assignment and serving at Alliance Theological Seminary in New York City and at the University in Jersey City.

Worship will be led by husband and wife duo, Anthony and Chloe Kirckof. They are the creators of “The Living Room,” a project devoted to creating a worship experience. Chloe is a member of the School of Music adjunct voice faculty, who teaches applied voice lessons, acting for the music stage, and singer’s diction.

David Emanuel

Thursday, October 20 @ 12 noon (EDT)
Chapel speaker: Dr. David Emanuel, professor of Bible in the AU School of Bible and Christian Ministry. The campus community prayed fervently for Dr. Emanuel’s healing during the peak of the pandemic and now rejoice over his miraculous recovery.

Worship for the Thursday service will be led by Dr. Peter Holsberg, dean of the School of Music; Dr. Tammy Lum music professor; and Dr. Charles Hammond, vice president of church relations and dean of the chapel.
