Nyack Named a Best School for Childhood Special Education Online Degree
March 9, 2022
The Nyack College School of Education was recently recognized by OnlineMastersDegrees.org (OMD) as one of the best colleges in the nation for earning an online master’s degree in childhood special education (non-certification) ranking the program at #28 of 41 schools evaluated. The full ranking list was published this week.
To be eligible for this ranking, colleges were required to meet criteria based on government data provided by the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Those schools evaluated have institutional accreditation from an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and provide a subject area at least partially online.
OMD also ranked schools based on a combination of affordability, online learning availability and student support metrics. The amount of financial aid and percentage of students receiving aid, as well as the availability of academic and career counseling were also factors that made colleges eligible.
Nyack’s School of Education is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the sole nationally recognized accrediting body for educator preparation. CAEP was established through by the consolidation of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Teacher Education Accreditation Council. It is a unified accreditation system committed to raising the performance of all institutions focused on educator preparation.
Congratulations to Dr. JoAnn Looney, School of Education dean, and her faculty and staff for this impressive achievement!
