October 28, 2021
Dr. Andrew Mercurio, program director and professor of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) at the Alliance Graduate School of Counseling (AGSC) will be a featured speaker at the Systemic Family Therapy Conference sponsored by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) on Friday, November 12, 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM (EST). Dr. Mercurio will present on the topic, “THE THEORY CUBE: Toward a Theory of Theory Selection.”
This conference will be presented virtually and gather participants from every continent in the world. The organizers have designed this event as a “reimagined approach to the traditional AAMFT Annual Conference and takes a holistic approach to the development and enhancement of family therapists.”
In 2016, AGSC’s Marriage and Family Therapy degree became nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). “Only some 120 schools/universities in the country have this accreditation,” Dr. Mercurio shares. “Among them, there are only 15 or so that are Christian, faith-based schools. Nyack’s MFT is the only COAMFTE program in New York City and the only Christian-based COAMFTE program on the East Coast between Boston and Washington, D.C.
