NCLEX Pass Rate for 2021 Nyack Grads Exceeds NYS Rate
January 10, 2022
“Our final NCLEX-RN pass rate is 89%!”
Dr. Inseon Hwang, dean of Nyack’s Cheryl Phenicie School of Nursing reports this exciting milestone, which distinguishes Nyack College nursing graduates who scored above the New York State passing rate of approximately 77%.
“The New York State passing rate dropped from 83% to 77% from 2020 to 2021 as most nursing schools in New York had difficulty maintaining their usual NCLEX-RN pass rate due to the COVID pandemic. The Nyack 2021 graduating cohort was an exemplar of a service-oriented mind and the core value of social relevance. This cohort helped to rebuild the nursing lab and to tutor for the nursing admission exams while participating in the Guatemala service learning trip,” Dr. Hwang explains. “We could not have achieved this without the cohort’s tenacity and commitment, and the faculty’s support, mentoring, and dedication.”
The rigorous National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) assesses the competency of candidates for licensure and practice as a nurse. Nyack nursing students bring the added distinction of compassion and the institutional core values of academic excellence, global engagement, diversity, personal transformation and social relevance.
At a time in our world when these front-line, essential workers are in high demand, Nyack College is responding to the need by preparing men and women who have chosen to earn the Bachelor of Science in Nursing in an environment that advocates for being the “hands and feet of Jesus” in the world.
Congratulations to the School of Nursing students, faculty and staff!
