City Chapel NYC at Alliance University: A Higher Calling in Lower Manhattan

January 12, 2023

Alliance University students looking to plant roots at a local church can now look no further than their own campus. A new church plant, City Chapel NYC, had their inaugural service on Sunday, January 8, 2023 in our lower level chapel auditorium. They will meet every Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

Though beginning as a small church gathering, Pastor Jeremiah Lepasana has big plans. “We love that the neighborhoods of the Metro area all directly flow into Lower Manhattan. Our dream is to cultivate a truly diverse community that represents well the diversity of the region.” He believes that downtown New York City offers a chance for City Chapel NYC to truly transform lives.

“Lower Manhattan is home to Wall Street and other historic institutions that export visions to the world,” he says. “We worship in the shadow of these modern temples proclaiming that Jesus is the only One able to bring life to the full.” The vision for Pastor Lepasana is clear. He says he wants “to bring personal conversion and deep-life transformation, wholehearted community, social justice, and cultural beauty to New York City and Northern Jersey, and through here, the world.”

Pastor Lepasana also sees an opportunity to connect with our Alliance University campus community. “We are excited to serve and partner with the students at AU. Aside from joining us for a Sunday gathering, students can fill out a Chapel Card, and one of our pastors will reach out. We would love to buy you coffee, hear what God is doing in your life, and share more about what God is forming at City Chapel.”

Want to learn more? On January 22, following their Sunday gathering, they will be hosting a lunch to share their vision and values.
