Chris Smith NC ’10 | “Mr. Nyack” is Back!

March 29, 2022

Nyack College alumnus Christopher J. Smith, the consummate “people person,” has returned to a key role on the Nyack staff. Recently appointed Manager of Alumni Relations in Advancement, he will assume the role of bridge-builder, keeping alumni and friends connected to each other and to Nyack College and Alliance Theological Seminary.

The 2010 graduate earned the moniker, “Mr. Nyack” honestly—not just because of his prized collection of Nyack gear he proudly wears—but this is the man who makes it his business to be a goodwill ambassador for his alma mater. In his eyes, no one is too insignificant or too important that he won’t be intentional about engaging them. Chris is the guy who after graduation, immediately became an Alumni Association Board member, ready and willing to roll up his sleeves to volunteer and help make things happen.

Chris earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing and completed some graduate level course work in the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership program. His pursuit of event planning (He’s the founder of Smith & Associates Events) and his interest in public relations was sparked during his time as a Nyack student. Recently, the College benefited from these mastered skills as he and ATS Associate Dean Dr. Charles Galbreath co-hosted a well-attended Brooklyn alumni event at Alliance Tabernacle at Clarendon Road.

Nyack Alum ChrisIn Nyack’s Office of Student Development, Chris was Coordinator of Student Activities and later returned to Nyack as a graduate program Admissions counselor. Beyond these roles, he’s never failed to attend campus events like Homecoming, concerts, Warrior home games or just to deliver his special brand of energy and enthusiasm.

“Nyack is celebrating its 140th year anniversary,” Chris shares. “I’m looking forward to re-engaging and connecting with our alumni as well as friends and supporters of the College, so that together we can expand our pool of resources and usher the College and Seminary into a new level of success. With nearly 35,000 alumni in 90 countries around the globe, I’m ready to put floodlights on what our alumni are doing in their communities and around the world!”

Alumni and friends, you can expect to hear from Chris Smith soon.

Welcome home, Mr. Nyack!
