Building Alliances: Church & Community Leaders Welcomed at Nyack College

August 24, 2021

“Who is my neighbor?” That more than 2,000-year-old question echoes through the ages and the answer is still the same. A neighbor is anyone with whom we can share the love of God.

For Nyack College, strategically located in Manhattan, opportunities abound in a “gateway city to the world,” where there are more than eight million residents. It is the intention of the College to establish relationships with local corporations, non-profits, organizations, agencies, educational institutions and churches. This week President Rajan Mathews and his wife, Grace, hosted a gathering of pastors and leaders on the Nyack campus near Battery Park. This was a time for their guests to become acquainted with the new administration and to share ideas on partnering with the College on future initiatives.

The group included (Standing l-r) Brian Birdsall, Director, Christian Embassy, United Nations; Doug Birdsall; Mark Atkinson, LEAD NYC; Danny Sanabria, NYC Director, Youth for Christ; Bonny Andrews, Chief Dreamer, Transform Cities; Don Stahl, former Director of Development, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary; Rev. Ebony Small, Vice President of Global Ministries and Pulse Movement; Enid Almanzar, Director, American Bible Society; Dr. Dave Jennings, Nyack College/ATS, Executive Vice President and Treasurer; Bishop Raymond Rivera, Founder, Latino Pastoral Action Center; Chair, National Latino Evangelical Coalition; and Drew Hyun, Pastor, Hope Midtown. Seated: President Rajan Mathews and Mrs. Grace Mathews. Those who joined virtually were Kavita Mathews, Vice President, ABS Real Estate; Arthur Satterwhite, Vice President of Multiethnic Ministries, Young Life; and Dr. Ron Walborn, Dean, Alliance Theological Seminary and the School of Bible and Christian Ministry.
