AU Students Volunteer at World Vision Fundraiser
December 2, 2022
Alliance University students volunteered today at a World Vision “Strong Women Strong World” fundraiser at the stately landmark building, 583 Park Avenue, in Manhattan. The students participated with Dr. Scott Reitz, who is professor of AU’s Global Community Development program and director of Global Service-Learning. The event included a simulcast of World Vision speakers.
The World Vision Strong Women Strong World humanitarian initiative targets the global hunger crisis and its impact on women and girls.
About the event that he has attended for a decade, Dr. Reitz says, “It is part of the broader emphasis on expanding access to education, nutrition, and healthcare to at-risk women and girls worldwide.” This was an opportunity for the students to learn how World Vision has empowered women to rise to their full potential, which ultimately has benefited children, families, and communities in need.
In the upcoming AU spring semester, Funding Projects and Ministries, a course taught by Dr. Reitz, will provide another platform for students to engage with professionals from a variety of faith-based NGO’s, non-profits, and ministries from around the world.
