Alumna and Family Go Above Board With Snurfer, LLC
August 30, 2022
This year, Bethany (Ilsley, NC ’98) Jenkins, alumna and a former Nyack College Director of Admissions, along with her husband Mike, and brother-in-law, Rick, became owners of a Utah-based company, Snurfer, LLC.
The snurfer board inspired the sport of snowboarding, which was first introduced in the 1998 Winter Olympics in Japan. Their Vew-Do balance boards develop or improve balance and skill in snowboarding and skateboarding. The boards are made from U.S. grown-rock maple trees that produce a dense, quality product.
This summer, Bethany, Mike and their two sons, Talon and Alaster, relocated from Bethany’s home state of Vermont to Utah. After involvement with Snurfer, LLC for several years, the team was presented with the opportunity to purchase the company. The Jenkins family intends to continue the legacy of Snurfer’s founder, the late Sherman Poppen, who created the first commercially produced snow surfer.
Congratulations to the Jenkins family! May the return on your investment mirror the name of your new home in … Bountiful, UT.
