Alliance University School of Social Work Faculty Members Lead the Way in Scholarship
April 25, 2023
The faculty members of the Alliance University School of Social Work have been actively engaging in scholarship this academic year.
Dr. Stacey Barker, Dr. DeVonne Allen, Kessy Moreau (MSW class of 2019), and Nicolette Soverall (BSW student) collaborated on this research endeavor, which resulted in this publication in Social Work & Christianity.
The publication entitled, “Social Work Student Perceptions of Racism, Implicit Bias, and other Forms of Discrimination: A Racial Justice Climate Survey,” is now available in the latest issue of Social Work & Christianity (Vol. 50, No.1, pp. 73-90, DOI: 10.3403/swc.v50i.308).
In addition to the publication by Dr. Barker and the students, our faculty members have contributed two chapters to the Encyclopedia of Mental Health (to be published in July 2023). The chapters are titled “Social Determinants of Mental Health” by Dr. Anderson Yoon and Dr. Ingyu Moon, and “Resilience in Diverse and Under-Represented Communities” by Dr. Kwiryung Yun.
Furthermore, Dr. Moon has published another article titled “Determinants of Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy: 2020 California Health Interview Survey.”
We are proud of our faculty’s contributions to the field of social work and mental health.
Finally, Dr. Anderson Yoon has earned another degree, a Master of Studies (Mst) in MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) from the University of Oxford.
The Dean of Alliance’s School of Social Work, Dr. Kwi Yun, said about the new publications, “I want to express my gratitude for the dedication, hard work, and passion for scholarship and lifelong learning that our faculty and students continue to demonstrate.”
